The Eastern Conference is ready to kick off the second half of the NBA season. The East is not as strong as it was before the All-Star break. The East saw two of its biggest stars sent to the Western Conference. The Brooklyn Nets sent both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to the West. First, Irving was sent to Dallas Mavericks to partner up with superstar Luka Doncic. Durant was sent to the Phoenix Suns to join the likes of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayden. These moves help make the West a little more dangerous heading into the second half of the season.

The Top of East…

Currently, in the East, the Boston Celtics have the best record at 42-17. The Celtics are led by All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics are the defending Eastern Conference champs and seem ready to defend their championship. The Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers are in the mix to finish atop the East. Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks), Joel Embiid (76ers), and Donovan Mitchell (Cavs) will help push their teams to the playoffs.

Brooklyn (7.5 games back) & New York Knicks (9.5 games back) still can make noise in the East. You would think the Nets would struggle now that their two superstars are gone, Mikal Bridges, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Cam Johnson who were all involved in trades have to keep this team afloat.

Play To Get In…

Here are the teams in the Play-Tournament currently. The Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. The Heat have the most experience in his group. Most of the players on the Miami team have been in the NBA Finals. Atlanta has been going through a ton of drama this season. The Hawks recently let go of their Head Coach Nate McMillan. The question at hand is will the firing have a positive or negative effect on the team heading down the stretch. Toronto still has two players from their 2019 NBA Championship run Pascal Siakam and Fred Vanvleet so they could be a force to be reckoned with.

Where Do The Wizards Fit?

Washington Wizards could be dangerous the rest of the regular season if they are healthy. Having Kyle Kuzma, Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis on the same page and healthy will be critical. Washington will have to find a way to get more production from their bench.

The rest of the regular season will be a fun ride. The Eastern Conference will be a dog fight from seeds five through twelve. It will be a battle to see who gets the right to play for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
