Minnesota 17, Houston 10
Adrian Peterson scored on the game's first play with a 75-yard run and finished with 117 yards rushing. In his second game since unretiring again less than two weeks ago, Brett Favre was 13 of 18 for 142 yards with a touchdown pass.
Chicago 27, Denver 17
Heckled and harassed by a hostile Denver crowd, Jay Cutler silenced the jeers the best way he knew how -- completing 15 of 21 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, leading the Bears to a win over the Broncos.
NY Jets 27, NY Giants 25
After being named the Jets starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez played like one. The rookie out of USC completed a spectacular 31-yard touchdown pass to Chansi Stuckey and put 20 points on the board in 2 1/2 quarters, giving new coach Rex Ryan his first win.
Seattle 14, Kansas City 10
Matt Hasselbeck threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks victory; despite a rough start in which his first pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage, picked off and returned for a 28-yard touchdown.
San Francisco 20, Dallas 13
The 49ers won the battle of the backups in the second half, winning on a 9-yard touchdown run by Kory Sheets with 33 seconds left. Sheets turned 11 carries into 42 yards and two touchdowns.
Baltimore 17, Carolina 13
Joe Flacco proved too much for the poor-tackling Panthers, completing 23 of 28 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown that included another dominant outing by the Ravens' stingy defense.
Atlanta 27, San Diego 24
On a fourth down, backup quarterback Chris Redman completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Eric Weems with 9 seconds remaining to give the Falcons the win.
Cleveland 23, Tennessee 17
Brady Quinn threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Braylon Edwards and outplayed Derek Anderson in their most recent audition for coach Eric Mangini to be Cleveland's starting quarterback.
Pittsburgh 17, Bills 0
James Farrior had a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown and a sack as Buffalo's starting offense struggled yet again in their shutout defeat at the hands of the Steelers.
New Orleans 45, Oakland 7
Drew Brees completed 14 of 17 passes for 179 yards and drove the Saints to touchdowns on all three drives he played in the Saints exhibition victory over the Raiders.
Detroit 18, Indianapolis 17
Peyton Manning completed 12 of 15 passes for 123 yards, while Matthew Stafford passed for 160 yards, going 13-for-19, to help the Lions beat the Colts. Three-time MVP Manning has said Stafford -- the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft -- would be best served to play right away, as Manning did after he was drafted.
Green Bay 44, Arizona 37
Aaron Rodgers threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns as the Packers opened a 38-10 halftime lead. Rodgers finished 14 of 19 to improve to 28 of 37 in the preseason for 458 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. Green Bay has outscored its opponents 76-10 in the first half of their three preseason contests.
New England 27, Washington 24
Tom Brady went 12-for-19 passing for 150 yards and two touchdowns, both to Randy Moss, who caught six passes for 90 yards in the Pats victory. Brady hurt his shoulder in the first half when he was pressed to the ground by All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth after a third down incomplete pass.
Miami 10, Tampa Bay 6
Chad Pennington led a drive that produced a field goal just before halftime, and then led a long touchdown drive in the third quarter for the Dolphins (3-0).
St. Louis 24, Cincinnati 21
Kyle Boller, who completed 14 of 20 passes, got his helmet knocked off on a hit by linebacker Keith Rivers at the end of an 8-yard scramble. Unfazed, Boller got to his feet, found his helmet and completed his next two passes, including a three-yard shovel pass to running back Samkon Gado for a touchdown.
Philadelphia 33, Jacksonville 32
Playing his first NFL game since his release from prison, Michael Vick got a standing ovation in a half-empty stadium, avoided any ugly protests and completed all four of his passes for a combined 19 yards.
