Steven Jackson ripped through Philadelphia's vaunted defense for a 47-yard touchdown on St. Louis' first snap Sunday. That play may be all Jackson contributes for a bit.

The Rams' star running back made just one more carry, a 9-yard burst, before leaving Sunday's game with a quadriceps injury. He was walking around St. Louis' sideline without a helmet on and, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano, appeared "to be angrily pleading with coaches to put him back in," but that the coaches didn't look like they were relenting.

In fact, the Rams updated Jackson's status after the half, saying the back has a pulled quad and wouldn't return to the game. They didn't offer any further details.

Jackson's been banged up frequently in past seasons, part of the reason that St. Louis went out and signed Cadillac Williams this offseason. Williams took over in the backfield with Jackson out, and he'll get some help from Jerious Norwood, another St. Louis offseason acquisition.
