Matt Moore lost his starting job to rookie Ryan Tannehill in the preseason, but he got a chance to step up as the Dolphins downed the Jets, 30-9, to rise to 4-3.

Tannehill was knocked from the game with what the team announced as a left knee and calf injury midway through the first quarter -- he was hit low by New York's Calvin Pace on a sack attempt, then limped to the sideline. That forced Miami to turn its offense back over to Moore, who entered Sunday without a pass attempt on the season.

A lot of the credit for the Dolphins' surprising success goes to their stout defense, but Tannehill has been more than solid so far this season.

Of course, Moore played pretty well for the Dolphins last season, too. After taking over as the starter following an injury to Chad Henne, Moore posted a 6-6 record down the stretch while throwing for just shy of 2,500 yards. Still, he found himself in a battle at QB this offseason with Tannehill and David Garrard.
