Jan. 26, 2003

The NFL's top-rated defense overwhelms the league's top-ranked offense as the Bucs throttle the Raiders 48-21 in Super Bowl 37 in San Diego. Tampa Bay sets a Super Bowl record with five interceptions; two of the picks are returned for touchdowns by cornerback Dwight Smith. The win caps the first season in Tampa for Jon Gruden, 39, the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl.

Dec. 11, 1977

After 26 consecutive losses, the Bucs get their first NFL win -- a 33-14 decision over the Saints in New Orleans. The Bucs tie an NFL record by returning three interceptions for touchdowns. More than 8,000 fans are on hand to greet the team when it returns to One Buccaneer Place that night.

Jan. 18, 2003

The warm-weather Bucs overcome 20-degree weather and a psyched Eagles team playing their final game in Veterans Stadium to upset Philadelphia 27-10 and win their first NFC championship. Monte Kiffin's defense forces three turnovers, including Ronde Barber's 92-yard fourth-quarter interception return for a TD that seals the game. Brad Johnson passes for 259 yards and a TD to Keyshawn Johnson.

July 29, 1995

Former defensive end Lee Roy Selmon, the Bucs' first draft pick ever and a six-time Pro Bowl selection, becomes the franchise's first player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Dec. 16, 1979

With a torrential downpour in Tampa making scoring difficult, Neil O'Donoghue kicks a 19-yard field goal for the only points in a 3-0 victory over Kansas City that earns the Bucs their first NFC Central title and first trip to the playoffs. Lee Roy Selmon (pictured) was voted AP Defensive Player of the Year.

Nov. 25, 1975

Ricky Bell becomes the first 1,000-yard rusher in team history when he gains 101 yards in a 23-22 loss to Minnesota. Bell finishes the season with 1,263 yard rushing yards.
