Houston Texans clinch No. 1 pick in NFL draft 2014 after loss to Titans

The Houston Texans are on the clock.

With a 16-10 loss to the Titans on Sunday, their 14th consecutive loss after a 2-0 start, the Texans guaranteed that they would finish the season with the league's worst record and thus hold the No. 1 pick at the 2014 draft.

Had the Texans won on Sunday, Washington could have jumped them in the draft order -- a swap that would have given the Rams the No. 1 selection. Instead, the Rams will hold the No. 2 pick.

What Houston does atop the draft could hinge on whether Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater foregoes his senior season for the NFL. The Texans have a clear need at that position.

Since entering the league in 2002, the Texans have held the No. 1 pick twice. They used it on QB David Carr during that initial draft for the franchise, then selected DE Mario Williams first overall in 2006.
