LB Jon Beason to reportedly remain with Giants

Free agent linebacker Jon Beason has agreed to a deal with the Giants to remain in New York for next season, according to a tweet Wednesday afternoon from Aditi Kinkhabwala.
The news comes after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that the two sides were in "heated discussions." The three-time Pro Bowler, traded by the Carolina Panthers to the G-Men last October, will be featured in a thin middle linebacker depth chart in New York that includes Mark Herzlich. According to media reports, he had been coveted by several NFL teams but ultimately decided to remain in New York.

Beason, 29, has suffered multiple injuries on the field after being selected by the Panthers with the No. 25 overall pick in 2007; in 2012, the three-time All-Pro linebacker played just four games because of shoulder and right knee injuries.
Beason signed a five-year, $51.5 million deal with the Panthers in July 2011, with $25 million of it guaranteed, but the two parties restructured the contract before the start of the 2013 season to void the final three years of the initial deal.
