Houston Texans 'trying hard' to trade the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL draft

With the 2014 NFL draft just over a month away, the rumors are beginning to heat up and it appears that several teams are interested in trading down in the first round.

According to a report from Dan Pompei of Bleacher Report, the Houston Texans are "trying hard" to trade the No. 1 overall pick and the Buffalo Bills could be a potential trade partner.

Pompei wrote:

Word from the NFL meetings is the Texans are trying hard to deal the first pick in the draft. They want to move down and acquire extra selections. Sources say they might have a trade partner in the Bills, who appear interested in moving up. It is unclear who the Bills would want in a trade-up scenario. Some believe they would move up for a quarterback. They also could make good use of an offensive tackle such as Greg Robinson. And it would be something to see them pair Mario Williams with either Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack.

The Bills used a first-round pick on EJ Manuel just a year ago, so it's unlikely they would mortgage the future to take another first-round quarterback. Adding the top offensive tackle in the draft to protect last year's first-round investment would make a lot of sense.

Of course, in a division that includes Tom Brady, adding one of the premier pass rushers would be a great choice that could potentially give Buffalo one of the most feared pass-rushing duos in the entire league.
