Johnny Manziel's 'sideshow' pro day doesn't impress Mike Zimmer

The Minnesota Vikings were one of the many teams on hand for Johnny Manziel's pro day at Texas A&M, and they were expected to keep a close eye on Manziel's maturity and leadership during his workout.

While many were happy with the way Manziel performed on the field, there are reports that Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was not impressed.

As far as Zimmer was concerned, the pro day -- which drew the attendance of former president George HW Bush and his wife, Barbara -- was nothing more than a sideshow.

"The huddles and the different things and the music. The sideshow stuff," Zimmer said, via Brian T. Smith of  Ultimate Texans. "It was a sideshow."

All the extra attention the 5-foot-11 signal-caller draws is not for everyone, and Zimmer is a no-nonsense kind of guy.

While Zimmer may not be thrilled with how the pro day played out, Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner was impressed by Manziel's "amazingly accurate" performance.

He was amazingly accurate,” Turner told the Houston Chronicle. “He showed all the things he needed to show. People who’ve watched a lot of tape on him are pretty familiar with what he can do. It’s good to see a guy in person, though.”

If the Vikings choose to take a quarterback in the first-round of the 2014 NFL draft, it looks like Zimmer and Turner will be divided on which player to select. With Turner running the offense and being the offensive brain of the coaching staff, it may be wise to allow him to choose the player he wants.
