Chris Johnson rumors: New York Jets could be saving money for RB

This week, the Tennessee Titans are expected to make a decision on running back Chris Johnson's future with the team, and it appears likely he will be released. The Titans have been shopping Johnson in recent weeks and are holding out hope that someone will make a last-minute trade offer, but it appears that most of the potential suitors are happy to sit pat, waiting for the Titans to cut their running back.

One of the teams expected to have heavy interest in Johnson is the New York Jets, who appear to be saving up their money for when the former 2,000-yard rusher becomes available.

The team was initially believed to be a logical landing spot for recently released wide receiver DeSean Jackson, but it has yet to show interest and it could be because it is hoping to keep its funds for a run at Johnson. At least that is what Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network suggests.

If Johnson were to join the Jets, he would be a perfect complement to Chris Ivory, a bruising, between-the-tackles runner who they picked up in the offseason just a year ago.
