2014 NFL draft: Derek Carr believes he's the best quarterback in the class

Derek Carr is one of the more intriguing quarterback prospects that could be available in the mid-to-late first round of the 2014 NFL draft, but as far as he is concerned, he should be one of the first quarterbacks off of the board.

When asked if he was the best quarterback in this year's draft, Carr was honest in saying that he has no doubt he is the top signal-caller available.

"In the most humble way you can answer that question, yes (I'm the best)," Carr said, via Cleveland.com. "Absolutely. There's no doubt in my mind. That's a tough one for me to answer because I don't like talking about myself in that light, but to answer it, absolutely."

Carr recently met with the Cleveland Browns and had an impressive workout, and he seems very interested in joining the team if it targeted him with one of its two first-round picks.

"I left there with a really good vibe," Carr said. "Now, to the extent of whether they're going to pick me or not, I have no clue. Teams are good at disguising that kind of stuff. But from the standpoint of having a good feel from it and a good vibe of it, definitely."

Carr certainly has the confidence that you want from a rookie, and one of the most intriguing takeaways from the Cleveland.com story is that he is willing and ready to welcome the challenge of competing with Brian Hoyer for the starting job.

Cleveland has to be impressed with the former Fresno State standout's confidence and his competitive edge, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the team move him up its draft board and make him one of its first-round targets.
