Johnny Manziel has 'ghetto tendencies,' should be No. 1 pick in 2014 NFL draft, says Deion Sanders

Outspoken Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is always willing to share his thoughts on the hot-button topics around the league, so it was only a matter of time before he spoke up about some of the players that have been dominating the headlines this offseason.

During the latest installment of the Roland Martin Podcast, Sanders weighed in on DeSean Jackson and Johnny Manziel, with his comments about the latter drawing plenty of attention.

According to Prime Time, Manziel has "ghetto tendencies" that cause people not to accept him.

"I love Johnny Football," Sanders added. "See, the reason people won’t accept Johnny Football is because Johnny Football has ghetto tendencies. I love Johnny Football."

Sander was asked to clarify what he meant by "ghetto tendencies."

"Because he was successful, he made it, and he let you all know he made it, and he was cocky, he was flamboyant, and he let you know," Sanders said.

Martin then asked if Sanders believes the Texans should take the former Texas A&M quarterback No. 1 overall in May's draft.

"Man, they better," Sanders said, "because he gonna fill the stadium."

Sanders also discussed new Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who he does not believe is any different from the other wide receivers in the league.

"He was not throwing gang signs. First and foremost I know this kid. He was on my team at the Pro Bowl and he’s a good kid. Now, does he come with luggage? Yes. He’s a wide receiver," Sanders said with a laugh.

"Everybody knows wide receivers are divas. I have not played with a wide receiver that was not a diva. And I played with Michael Irvin, and I played Andre Rison, I played with Jerry Rice. Should I keep going? Because I played on several teams.

"So they just come with a lot of luggage, but he is not a gang member or affiliated with a gang. Does he have his homies with him every now and then? Yes he does. And this is who DeSean is."
