Report: 49ers in talks with Brandon Lloyd

After a year out of the league, veteran wide receiver Brandon Lloyd is set to attempt a comeback. According to CSN Bay Area, multiple sources have said that Lloyd is in talks with the San Francisco 49ers about potentially making a return to the NFL

Lloyd entered the league as a fourth-round pick of the 49ers in 2003 and has played for six NFL teams, with 385 receptions for 5,695 yards and 35 touchdowns in his 10-year career.

San Francisco showed interest in free agent wideouts Julian Edelman, Emmanuel Sanders, Golden Tate, Hakeem Nicks, Devin Hester and DeSean Jackson, but missed out on all of the top names. 

The 49ers currently have Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree slated as the starting wide receivers, with Quinton Patton holding the No. 3 spot. San Francisco is also in the mix to add a wideout in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft, so Lloyd would have to challenge for the No. 3 spot or likely just serve as filler on the depth chart.

During the 2012 season, Lloyd recorded 74 receptions for 911 yards and four touchdowns for the New England Patriots.
