Mike Holmgren: I should have just coached the Cleveland Browns

When Mike Holmgren took the position as Cleveland Browns president in 2009, the hope was that he would be able to turn things around for the franchise. Unfortunately, that plan never came to fruition and Holmgren ended up leaving the team after 2012.

One of the biggest decisions of Holmgren's tenure was the firing of head coach Eric Mangini, and that has inspired a bit of regret when he looks back at his tenure with the team.

If Holmgren could change one thing, it would have been naming himself the head coach.

"I really just should have coached the team, but [former owner Randy Lerner] didn't want me to," Holmgren told TheMMQB.com.

"At that particular time, I wasn't ready to do it again," Holmgren added when speaking with the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I thought I'd be shortchanging the organization."

Even if Holmgren would have coached the Browns, it is hard to imagine the team would have found success. During his time with the team, the Browns quarterbacks were Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace, Colt McCoy and Brandon Weeden.

That's not exactly a who's who of Pro Bowl signal-callers.
