2014 NFL draft: Cowboys not drafting Johnny Manziel

The chatter about the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys moving up to select Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is sure to continue until next week's 2014 NFL draft, but there are conflicting reports about just how likely that scenario is.

It was just a day ago that CBS announcer Jim Nantz floated the rumor that the Cowboys would find a way to select Manziel, but Cowboys columnist Jeff Sullivan firmly shot down that report, citing his own team sources.

"For the record, I'm not guessing on the Cowboys not drafting Manziel," Sullivan wrote on Twitter. "I was told absolutely no by the highest of authorities."

While it was fun to discuss the made-for-primetime pairing of player and franchise, it wouldn't make sense for Dallas to move up in the first round to draft a controversial quarterback prospect, sacrificing picks and neglecting other team needs in the process.
