2015 NFL Draft: NFL considering pushing draft back week or two

The NFL draft grows into a bigger spectacle every year, and that was never more evident than during last month's event, which shattered television and social media records. Of course, the buzz was aided by the fact that magnetic college superstars Jadeveon Clowney and Johnny Manziel commanded many of the headlines.

Some of the added hype was due to the extra two weeks of media coverage leading up to Round 1, thanks to a scheduling conflict with Radio City Music Hall that pushed the draft into May. More issues with Radio City have spurred talks of the draft potentially moving away from its traditional New York City home and relocating to some other big-market city in the country, which could create a bidding war for the event after the fashion of the Super Bowl.

According to NFL PR rep Brian McCarthy, that's exactly what the plan is going forward, beginning next year. New York, Chicago and Los Angeles are the top contenders, and the only certainty is that the 2015 draft won't be held in Radio City Music Hall, which will reportedly be again tied up with a scheduling conflict.

New York is still in the mix to keep the draft, but the proposed venue for next year's draft should the NFL choose to stay local would be Madison Square Garden.
