San Francisco 49ers backup running back Kendall Hunter tore his ACL on Friday and will likely miss the 2014 season, according to a team report.
Hunter was drafted by San Francisco in the fourth round in 2011. In three seasons with the 49ers, he has rushed for 1,202 yards and seven touchdowns.
According to Comcast SportsNet's Matt Maiocco, the 25-year-old Oklahoma State alum injured his knee during Friday's practice while catching a swing pass from backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Carlos Hyde and Marcus Lattimore are expected to compete for the No. 2 position behind starter Frank Gore.
Hunter was in the final year of his contract.
