The San Francisco 49ers have reached out to holdout offensive guard Alex Boone, but have made no progress on a new deal, reports the Sacramento Bee.

Boone, who has started 32 regular season games in the past two seasons, has two years left on his current deal and is scheduled to make $2 million in base salary in 2014, plus a $200,000 roster bonus.

San Francisco has about $10.5 million left in salary cap space.

“Once again, nothing positive is going to come from discussing any of this, our strategy, how we deal with players, how we deal with this situation or others,” 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said. “I've never seen anything positive come from that.”
