Report: Detroit Lions claim wide receiver Jon Baldwin

Monday August 4th, 2014

The Detroit Lions have claimed wide receiver Jon Baldwin, reports Bleacher Report's Michael Schottey. The San Francisco 49ers waived Baldwin on Sunday.

Baldwin is a former first round pick who has struggled to find a permanent home in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs took him with the No. 26 pick in the 2011 draft, but traded him to San Francisco after just two seasons for fellow former first-rounder A.J. Jenkins.

Last year with the 49ers, Baldwin caught three passes for 28 yards. In his two years with the Chiefs, Baldwin caught 41 passes for 579 yards and two TDs.

The Lions signed former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate earlier this offseason to start opposite All-Pro Calvin Johnson.
