Wednesday August 6th, 2014

Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett hasn't been with the team since Monday, when he was fined an undisclosed amount and suspended indefinitely. However, Tuesday Bennett spoke with head coach Marc Trestman on the phone, a conversation that Trestman described as "very positive," according to a report from

Trestman added that Bennett has not been ruled out for Friday's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles

"I did [speak with Bennett]," Trestman told ESPNChicago. "It was a very positive conversation. We touched base with each other, and I'll just leave it at that. We did what we said we were gonna do, and that was talk yesterday."
