Rivers had four tackles in his first game with the Bills. He was the No. 9 pick in the 2008 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and played the first four seasons of his career with the team. He spent the last two seasons with the New York Giants.

Buffalo starting linebacker Kiko Alonso will miss the entire season after tearing his ACL during the offseason. Linebacker Nigel Bradham will return against the Dolphins after a one-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
