Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Geno Smith "has it inside...he can get it done" despite a rough start to the season, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

The comments come after the Jets dropped to 1-2, losing 27-19 to the Bears on Monday and wide receiver Eric Decker and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson in the process.

Now in his second year, the 23-year-old Smith already has five turnovers this season, including two vs. the Bears. He had 25 last year.

Despite the poor performance, Ryan expressed in the report his support for Smith, saying the whole team is behind him:

"Everybody is behind Geno. He's our quarterback and our football team believes in him. Geno is a mentally tough guy."

Smith and the Jets host the Lions on Sunday.
