Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson was deactivated vs. the Raiders and Chiefs because he "mouthed off" to New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, according to a tweet Wednesday night from Shalise Manza Young of The Boston Globe.

Head coach Bill Belichick has remained mum on the reason for Dobson's deactivation.

The Patriots have struggled on offense so far this season, a problem most evident in Week 4 when quarterback Tom Brady was unable to lead New England on the road vs. the Chiefs. New England was blown out 41-14.

The Patriots are now 2-2 and third in the AFC East.

If the report about Dobson's mouthing off is true and the friction he apparently has with McDaniels persists, the Patriots could look to trade the wide receiver in only his second season.

Young talked about how she's heard that the Patriots believe Dobson has "immaturity" issues and that they don't like the way he conducts himself in meetings and off-the-field in general when he's at the team facility. She mentioned the prospect of the Patriots possibly having Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald on their radar, a potential deal that would likely spell the end of Dobson's time in New England.
