Redskins coach Jay Gruden: 'Jury is still out' on quarterback position
Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the "jury is still out" on the quarterback position following Sunday's 29-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, according to a report from The Washington Post.
Robert Griffin III started the game after missing the previous six games with a dislocated ankle suffered in a Sept. 14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 24-year-old completed 18 of his 28 pass attempts for 251 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed seven times for 24 yards.

Kirk Cousins started the five games after Griffin's injury but was benched in favor of Colt McCoy in the Redskins' 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans on Oct.19. McCoy led Washington to a 20-17 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys a week later, completing 25 of 30 passes for 299 yards with an interception.
Gruden said Griffin did some "good things" in Sunday's loss, according to the paper.
“You start out with Robert, you give him all the reps in training camp and then he hurts his ankle and then he misses five or six weeks,” Gruden said, according to the paper. “We get a good look at Kirk [Cousins]. We get a good look a Colt [McCoy] and now it’s back to Robert. So, the jury is still out on that position. But we feel good about Robert’s progress so far and we’ve just got to continue to build and see how he does from week to week to week and hopefully we can see that here at the end of the season. That’s what we have to see and that’s what we have to find out.”
The Redskins (3-6, 4th in NFC East) are idle this weekend before hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 16.
