San Francisco says 'no' to Coach Holmgren
Monday January 5th, 2015

Former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren told KJR 950-AM on Monday he was offered two NFL head coaching jobs recently but turned them down.

Holmgren also said that he was interested in the San Francisco 49ers' job but the interest was not mutual. He did not identify which teams offered him a job but told the radio station that he is done coaching.

“The important thing is that it’s done,” Holmgren said of his coaching days.

The 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills all have head coaching vacancies.

Holmgren, 66, has not coached in the NFL since the 2008 season. He was the president of the Cleveland Browns from 2009-2012.

Holmgren has a 174–122 career record and led the Packers to a victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI. He also took the Seahawks to Super Bowl XL, where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
