FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) The murder trial of former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez is moving forward slowly with more potential jurors excused.

Bristol County Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh excused several more people from the pool Tuesday during jury selection.

Garsh has been asking jurors questions and excusing those with biases, hardships and other valid reasons. The questioning is being done in open court but outside the hearing of the public.

Hundreds of potential jurors have been excluded from a pool of more than 1,000. Eighteen are needed for the panel.

The court hasn't said when it expects opening statements to be delivered, but it is unlikely to be this week.

Hernandez is charged with the June 2013 killing of semiprofessional football player Odin Lloyd, who was dating Hernandez's fiancee's sister.
