Chargers safety Eric Weddle feels 'highly disrespected' by team

San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle says he feels "highly disrespected" by the team, according to U-T San Diego. 

Weddle is skipping the team's voluntary off-season workout program, which began on Monday. Weddle, who said he wants to retire as a member of the Chargers, told U-T San Diego that he is upset the team hasn't discussed a new contract with him. 

Weddle, 30, is slated to be a free agent in 2016. 

"I feel highly, highly disrespected," Weddle said, according to U-T San Diego. "... It is what it is, but there is no reason for me to put out any more effort."

Weddle is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro. He has started 109 of the Chargers' last 112 regular season games. 

The safety reiterated that he wants to retire as a member of the Chargers. 

“We've come to them numerous times and said we want to be part of the team, we want to retire as a Charger,” Weddle said, according to U-T San Diego. “We've completely gotten pushed aside."
