49ers' Ahmad Brooks sued for sexual assault by Ray McDonald accuser
The woman who accused Chicago Bears defensive lineman Ray McDonald of sexual assault has sued San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks for sexual assault, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
TMZ Sports first reported the civil lawsuit, which was filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court. The lawsuit pushes for a trial for damages due to assault and battery, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment, according to CSN Bay Area.
The alleged victim claims the incident occurred at a Dec. 14 party at the home of McDonald, who played for the 49ers before signing with the Bears this off-season. She is accusing Brooks of groping her "in a sexual manner" when she was knocked unconscious after falling on a deck at McDonald's home. The alleged victim also says McDonald carried her to his bedroom and had sex with her without her consent after she regained consciousness.
McDonald sued the alleged victim for defamation in March. The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office is still investigating the alleged rape, for which McDonald has not yet been charged. In August, McDonald was arrested for felony domestic violence. He wasn't charged in that case.
The 49ers released a statement acknowledging the allegations against Brooks.
“The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the media report regarding Ahmad Brooks," the team said, according to CSN Bay Area. "We were disappointed to learn of this matter and will continue to monitor the situation.”
The 49ers released McDonald in December.
Brooks, a Pro Bowler in 2013, is entering his ninth season in the league and seventh season with the 49ers. He recorded 30 total tackles and six sacks in 2014.
