In an interview with The Buffalo News published Sunday, Buffalo Bills receiver Percy Harvin spoke about his controversial departure from the Seattle Seahawks and his relationship with the other members of the receiving corps.

After Harvin was traded by the Seahawks to the New York Jets last October, reports emerged that he and his Seattle teammates did not get along, including a report from The Seattle Times that he gave Golden Tate a black eye before Super Bowl XLVIII. Harvin also had an altercation with Doug Baldwin in August 2014 that left Baldwin with a cut in his chin.

Harvin told the News that he tried to defuse the situation with Baldwin, but Baldwin wouldn’t let Harvin go.

“That was one of the times, he tried to use me to show he was a tough guy,” Harvin said. “I tried to walk away and he came back. It got messy. And I think what happened was the best for me.”

Harvin said he felt the tension was the result of the receivers’ desire to be the top target.

“It was a constant thing,” Harvin said. “It was something that got under my skin. I felt like they were acting like kids.”

Harvin was released by the Jets in March and signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Bills.
