The Buffalo Bills have parted ways with defensive end IK Enemkpali, who was cut by the Jets in August for breaking Geno Smith’s jaw.

The Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson first reported the news.

After punching Geno Smith over a $600 plane ticket and shattering his jaw, Enemkpali was released by New York and subsequently claimed on waivers by the Bills and his former coach Rex Ryan.

At the time of the claim, Ryan believed Enemkpali could make an impact on the team. From The MMQB’s Peter King and Emily Kaplan on Aug. 13:

“We claimed IK Enemkpali,” Ryan told his team. ”I wouldn’t bring him here if I didn’t think he could really come in and fit in with us. I need your help to welcome him to the team like he’s any other player.”

Enemkpali, 24, has just one year of experience in the NFL. He played in six games with the Jets in 2014, mostly on special teams.
