When asked if the struggling Colin Kaepernick will be the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers upcoming game, head coach Jim Tomsula told reporters on Monday that he is “evaluating everyone” on the team.

“We’re evaluating everything,” Tomsula said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. “We’re in the middle of it right now. I don't have any comments on any position on our field right now. We’re evaluating everyone.”

The 49ers (2–6) fell to the St. Louis Rams 27–6 on Sunday. Kaepernick, who has completed 59.3% of his passes this season, failed to throw a touchdown on Sunday for the fifth time this season.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, players in San Francisco’s locker room are divided about whether Kaepernick should remain the starting quarterback.

The backup quarterback for the 49ers is Blaine Gabbert, a fifth-year player out of Missouri, who was with the Jacksonville Jaguars before being acquired by San Francisco in a trade.

Gabbert, 26, has seen action in one game this season, throwing for 38 yards and a touchdown.

The 49ers play the Atlanta Falcons (6–2) at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
