Saints sign QB Matt Flynn, backup Luke McCown (back) out for season

The New Orleans Saints will sign quarterback Matt Flynn as Drew Brees’s backup following a season-ending back injury to Luke McCown, the team announced Monday.
Flynn, a veteran who signed with the New York Jets in August before being cut ahead of the regular season, has primarily served as a backup during his eight NFL seasons.
He holds a career 61.3% completion rate and has thrown 17 touchdowns to 11 interceptions and 2,541 yards in 51 games.
McCown, who has a lower back injury, will undergo surgery on Tuesday. He will be placed on IR.
The Saints (4–5) will travel to face the Washington Redskins (3–5) on Sunday at FedEx Field.
