Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer will start Sunday against the Saints after passing the concussion protocol, coach Bill O’Brien said Monday.

Hoyer sustained the third concussion of his career in the team’s Week 10 victory over the Bengals. He sat out Week 11 after suffering memory loss.

“[Hoyer] wasn’t functioning correctly as to how we know he’d usually function calling a play, receiving a play and trying to communicate it to the offense,” head coach Bill O'Brien told reporters after last Monday’s win.

T.J. Yates started for Hoyer in a 24–17 victory over the Jets, completing 16 of 34 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception.

In seven starts this season, Hoyer has completed 59.5% of his passes for 1,704 yards and 13 touchdowns, with four interceptions.

Kickoff between Houston and New Orleans is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
