The Green Bay Packers retired former quarterback Brett Favre’s No. 4 during halftime of Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bears.

On July 18, Favre first became the first Green Bay player ever to by inducted into the Packer’s Hall of Fame and have his number retired at the same time.

“I want to thank my teammates who are here, I enjoyed playing with them and that jersey retirement is shared with those guys,” Favre said after the unveiling of his number.

The halftime ceremony also included an appearance by former Packers quarterback Bart Starr. Starr’s No. 15 was retired by the team in 1973.

Favre was selected in the second round of the 1991 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He went on to spend sixteen seasons with the Packers before playing his last three seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings. The three-time MVP quarterback retired after the 2010 season with 71,838 yards, 508 touchdown passes and 186 total wins.

Farve is one of the 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2016.

In addition to having his number retired, Favre received the key to city of Green Bay before Thursday’s game.

Favre is the sixth Packer to have his number retired. He joins Starr, Tony Canadeo, Don Hutson, Ray Nitschke and Reggie White.

The Bears led the Packers 14–13 at halftime.
