Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion) doubtful vs. Colts
Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer sustained a concussion Sunday against the New England Patriots and is doubtful for his team’s Week 15 matchup at the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Bill O’Brien told reporters Monday.
According to a report by ESPN’s Tania Ganguli, O’Brien said Hoyer’s ailments extend beyond the realm of a concussion.
“It wasn’t just a concussion,” O’Brien told reporters. “He strained his neck. He had a wrist problem. He took a beating last night.”
Hoyer left Sunday’s 27–6 loss to the Patriots to be evaluated for a concussion. He was sacked five times in the game, including one hard hit in the fourth quarter by Akiem Hicks, in which Hoyer’s head hit the ground forcefully.
Backup T.J. Yates, who started in Week 11 when Hoyer was out with a concussion, replaced the injured quarterback under center. The Texans went three-and-out on Yates’s only series of the game.
Hoyer was concussed in Week 10 during a Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals and reported during the game that he was having trouble remembering plays.

Because he entered the NFL’s concussion protocol, Hoyer must be cleared by a doctor before he can return to the field.
