The Indianapolis Colts have hired former Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach Ted Monachino as defensive coordinator, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced Thursday.

Earlier this week, the Colts fired defensive coordinator Greg Manusky. Manusky, 49, had been with the team since 2012. The news came just after the team announced extensions for head coach Chuck Pagano and general manager Ryan Grigson.

Pagano and Monachino coached together in Baltimore from 2008–11 when Pagano was on the Ravens’ coaching staff as a secondary coach, and later as the team’s defensive coordinator.

Monachino was the defensive line coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2006–10, before joining Baltimore as a linebackers coach. Prior to his coaching career in the NFL, Monachino was a defensive line coach at Arizona State, Boise State and James Madison.
