Chargers aren’t interested in L.A. stadium plans with Rams
The San Diego Chargers are committed to joining the Oakland Raiders for a new stadium in Carson, Calif., and have no interest in the Inglewood stadium project, reportsUSA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer.
“On December 7, the Chargers made clear in writing that we had zero interest in the Inglewood project, and nothing has changed since then,” Chargers special counsel Mark Fabiani said in a statement. “Our L.A. stadium project in Carson has the most central location, the best leadership with [Disney chief executive] Bob Iger, and the ample parking and easy freeway access to give fans the best possible game day experience.”
The Chargers and Raiders teamed up in hopes of relocating and proposed a stadium site in Carson, while the Rams’ ownership produced a 26-page assessment on a proposed move to Los Angeles, and are hoping to develop a $1.9 billion, three million square foot stadium complex in Inglewood. The NFL announced on Jan. 4. that all three teams had applied for relocation.

The NFL owners will meet this week to vote on the applications. In order for the proposals to be approved, they must receive the support of 24 of the league’s 32 owners.
