After the Broncos’ Super Bowl win, Peyton Manning’s father Archie told NFL Network’s Jeff Darlington that he thinks his son will retire.
Archie, a former NFL quarterback, said on television he thinks “Peyton’s days in Denver are over,” and that his playing career might be over entirely. He added that he thinks his son already knows if he’ll retire or not, but the two have yet to discuss the matter.
Manning’s mother Olivia also told reporters that she “wants Peyton to retire.”
Manning and his younger brother Eli, the New York Giants quarterback, now own four Super Bowl titles between them, two apiece.
If Manning retires, he will join Broncos vice president John Elway as a Denver quarterback to walk away from the game after a Super Bowl win.
The Broncos defeated the Panthers 24–10 in Super Bowl 50, with linebacker Von Miller taking home MVP honors.
