After Seattle Seahawks running back posted a tweet Sunday night suggesting his imminent retirement, athletes took to Twitter to react to the news.

Lynch’s tweet featured an image of hanging cleats accompanied by a peace-sign emoji, seemingly confirming Sunday’s report by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport that Lynch had informed the Seahawks that he would retire.

Lynch, 29, played in just seven games during the 2015 season as he dealt with hamstring and abdominal injuries. The five-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion finishes his nine-year career with 9,112 yards and 74 touchdowns.

Lynch was selected by the Buffalo Bills with the 12th pick of the 2007 NFL draft and spent three seasons in Buffalo before being traded to the Seahawks at the beginning of the 2010 season.
