The Washington Redskins have discussed signing Greg Hardy as a replacement for injured linebacker Junior Galette, ESPN’s Ed Werder reports.

Galette sustained a torn Achilles on Monday and will miss a second straight season for Washington. Cornerback Josh Norman was a teammate of Hardy’s with the Carolina Panthers and could advocate for his former teammate.

However, Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reports that the Redskins will not sign Hardy.

Hardy is a free agent after spending the 2015–16 season with the Dallas Cowboys. He served a four-game suspension at the start of the season after violating the league’s personal conduct policy. He recorded just six sacks all season.

Hardy was arrested in May 2014 after allegedly grabbing his ex-girlfriend, throwing her onto a couch and strangling her. A judge found Hardy guilty of assault in July 2014, but the charges were dropped on appeal when Hardy’s accuser failed to appear in court. In November 2015, one day after Hardy’s charges were expunged from his record, Deadspin published police photos of Hardy’s ex-girlfriend, showing her bruises and injuries.

Hardy has since sought counseling and informed teams of his efforts to correct past behavior.
