The NFL is looking into ending or limiting Thursday Night Football, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports.

Any changes would have to take effect starting in 2018.

Thursday Night Football began on a limited basis, running the first week of the season and weekly after Thanksgiving on NFL Network. It was extended to a weekly game over the course of the entire season in 2012, and its rights are now shared between NFLN, CBS and NBC, with Twitter streaming 10 games online. The TNF package reportedly sold for $450 million in 2015.

Ratings have declined for the NFL’s primetime games this season, and players have voiced concerns in the past over the short week TNF creates.

The NFL released a statement in response to the report on Monday, saying it is "fully committed to Thursday Night Football and any reports to the contrary are unfounded."
