Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon reportedly suffered an MCL injury against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, according to ESPN's Eric Williams.
NFL.com reports that Gordon has a Grade 2 MCL sprain after an MRI determined the extent of the injury.
Gordon is expected to miss the next few weeks, but could return by season's end if the knee is healed. The Chargers play the Steelers in Pittsburgh next week, with the Cincinnati Bengals the following week before face the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Gordon rushed 10 times for 61 yards and two touchdowns prior to exiting the Chargers' 45-10 win over Arizona. Justin Jackson (seven carries, 57 yards) and Austin Ekeler (five carries, 35 yards, one touchdown) manned the Chargers' backfield in Gordon's absence.
Gordon entered the weekend seventh in the NFL in rushing this season. He has tallied 802 yards and nine scores so far this year.
