Cardinals listening to trade calls for Patrick Peterson

The Arizona Cardinals are fielding trade calls from teams interested in star cornerback Patrick Peterson, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday.

According to Schefter, the Cardinals have gotten calls from at least three teams trying to trade for Peterson. Peterson, 28, has been the center of trade rumors this past offseason after he requested a trade back in October 2018. Peterson previously said he "desperately" wanted out of Arizona, who finished the 2018 season 3–13.

Six or seven teams have reportedly inquired about Peterson over the past year, but the Cardinals have told all of those teams that they are not interested in trading the eight-time Pro Bowler.

Peterson was suspended six games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy in May. 

Peterson, a three-time All-Pro, is entering his ninth NFL season. Arizona drafted him with the No. 5 pick in 2011 out of LSU. He had started all 128 games of his career prior to his suspension

Peterson recorded 54 tackles and two interceptions in 2018. He has two years left on his contract and is set to make a base salary of $11 million this season and $12.05 million in 2020.

Peterson will be eligible to return on Oct. 20 against the New York Giants.
