While Murray–the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner–was expected to start the moment the Cardinals selected him with the No. 1 overall draft pick, the same could not be said for Jones when the Giants tabbed him five picks later. The original plan was for Jones to observe Eli Manning while potentially getting some playing time in mop-up roles or later in the season if New York fell out of playoff contention early.

That timeline, however, was moved up after the Giants (2-4) started 0-2 and coach Pat Shurmur opted to start Jones in Week 3. The Duke product has held his own, throwing for 921 yards and five touchdowns with six interceptions.

Jones battled in New York’s 35-14 loss at New England on Oct. 10, completing 15 of 31 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. He also was intercepted three times–an outcome not uncommon for a first-time matchup against the Patriots and coach Bill Belichick.

Murray, meanwhile, has found a groove for Arizona (2-3-1), which is seeking its first three-game winning streak since reeling off nine consecutive victories in 2015. The Cardinals are also looking to match their win total for all of last season after holding off Atlanta 34-33 last Sunday.

Murray recorded his third 300-yard game, finishing with 340, and threw a season-high three touchdown passes while adding another 32 yards running. The Cardinals escaped with the win when Matt Bryant missed a game-tying extra point with 1:53 to play after the Falcons had pulled within one.

The game is starting to become slower for Murray, who has not been intercepted and was sacked just once in Arizona’s last two games. He has thrown for 1,664 yards and seven TDs while being intercepted four times. Murray has added 238 rushing yards and two scores.

David Johnson has become a dual-threat running and receiving, racking up 613 scrimmage yards and five TDs. Veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has been a steady presence with team-highs of 35 catches and 427 yards and has at least five receptions in every game.

The Cardinals have won the last two games against their former NFC East rivals, including a 23-0 romp in Week 16 of the 2017 season. Fitzgerald had nine catches for 119 yards, including a 13-yard scoring toss from Drew Stanton.
