Aaron Rodgers Says ‘It Won’t Be Long’ Before Career Decision

The entire NFL world is waiting to see what Aaron Rodgers will do next season, as it appears the superstar quarterback is choosing between retirement, returning to the Packers or agreeing to be traded to the Jets.

While the waiting continues, Rodgers held a celebrity flag football game for charity in Southern California on Saturday. Former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall was in attendance, and he corralled Rodgers for a brief interview. However, Rodgers didn’t provide too much information regarding his recent meeting with Jets owner Woody Johnson, coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

“It’s always interesting meeting important figures in the sport,” Rodgers said. “That’s all I’m giving you.”

When Marshall tried to push Rodgers to reveal more, the quarterback remained vague in his answers but did offer some insight into his timeline for a decision.

“Stay tuned,” he said. “It won’t be long. There’s a time limit to all this.”

NFL free agency begins this week, as teams can begin negotiations with impending free agents Monday and sign new free agents Wednesday. So it’s fair to assume Rodgers has to make a decision soon for the sake of both the Packers and Jets.

All signs appear to be pointing toward the Jets’ trading for Rodgers, but the quarterback must first decide to commit to returning for his 19th NFL season.
