Allen Lazard Comments on Rodgers Trade Talks in First Jets Presser

As the Jets try to complete a deal with the Packers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, New York officially signed former Green Bay wide receiver Allen Lazard on Friday. The 27 year-old joins the Jets after playing for four years with Rodgers, developing a strong chemistry over that span.

While speaking with the media, Lazard didn’t shy away from questions about Rodgers and the Jets. The veteran explained that he is excited to play with Rodgers again once the trade goes through and believes the quarterback takes the team to another level.

“I think with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, the possibility of wins is always a thing,” he said about the team. “His caliber of play automatically activates everybody’s potential on the field immediately.”

While joining Rodgers is certainly appealing, Lazard made it clear that he signed with the Jets irrespective of Rodgers’s decision, but he is still thrilled that his quarterback appears to be coming with him.

“We were both trying to do what’s right for the both of us,” he said, “It feels good that 12 is going to be my quarterback again.”

Though reuniting with Rodgers is the big news, Lazard is also excited to once again play for offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. After spending three years together in Green Bay before Hackett took the Broncos head coaching job, Lazard had high praise for the coach.

“The best teacher I’ve ever had in my life,” Lazard said about Hackett, via Rich Cimini.

The NFL world is awaiting the Jets and Packers to make the Rodgers deal official, and when that does happen, Lazard will be one of the happiest guys on the team.
