Jets GM Joe Douglas Offers Update on Aaron Rodgers Trade Scenario

Earlier this month, longtime Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that he intends to play for the Jets this upcoming season. Since then, an official trade has not yet transpired as the two teams continue to discuss the trade’s terms

Rodgers was obviously a hot topic of conversation for Jets general manager Joe Douglas at this week’s annual league meetings. When asked about any updates regarding the trade, Douglas made it sound like the two sides have a little way to go.

“There’s been some productive conversations,” Douglas said, via NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. “We’re not where we need to be yet but I feel we’re in a good place. There’s no hard deadline. There’s not a ton of urgency from our standpoint but very optimistic.”

So, are the Jets set on Rodgers even though another NFL MVP quarterback, Lamar Jackson, is seeking a trade?

Jackson said on Monday that he requested a trade from the Ravens in early March. According to Douglas, it sounds like the Jets have no intentions on speaking with Jackson at this time. He claimed it would be “disingenuous” to speak with the Ravens quarterback as the Jets continue to figure out the trade with the Packers.

“We’re staying on our path we’re on right now,” Douglas said. “We’re never going to operate in bad faith.”
