Alvin Kamara Suspended Three Games by NFL for Role in Las Vegas Brawl

After meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this week, it was announced on Friday that Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been suspended three games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, per a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

On July 11, Kamara pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for his role in a 2022 Las Vegas brawl. The 29-year-old tailback made the plea deal in exchange for felony charge of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm being dropped.

The five-time Pro Bowl talent settled the civil case brought by Darnell Greene, who suffered serious injuries following a brawl that took place the night before the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl in Las Vegas.

After being excused from Wednesday’s practice to meet with Goodell, Saints coach Dennis Allen said he was proud that Kamara wanted to sit down with the commissioner to discuss his account of the incident, per Brett Martel of the Associated Press.

“It shows initiative on Alvin’s part to want to get out ahead of this and get his side of the story out in terms of visiting with the commissioner,”said Allen. “We felt like, and he felt like, it was the right thing to do. I don’t want to really get into all the details. We’ll let the process play and then we’ll react to whatever decisions are made.”

In exchange for pleading no contest to the misdemeanor charge of breach of peace, Kamara was ordered to perform community service as well as pay $100,000 to Greene for his medical bills.

The league was permitted to hand out their own punishment which resulted in Kamara now being forced to sit out the first three games of the 2023 season.
