Patrick Mahomes Addresses Chasing Tom Brady’s ‘Crazy’ Seven Super Bowl Wins

Patrick Mahomes is widely considered to be the top quarterback in the NFL today.

At age 27, he already boasts two league MVP awards and five Pro Bowl selections. He’s also guided the Chiefs to two Super Bowl victories in the past three seasons, a feat that has invited comparisons to seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.

Mahomes has won those two rings in just five seasons as a starter, while Brady won three rings in the same timeframe. But despite the fact that no other NFL player besides Brady has even appeared in more than six Super Bowls, Mahomes is not ruling out the possibility that he could catch Brady, who went 7-3 in 10 Super Bowl appearances.

“Seven’s a lot, but I’ll strive to get as close as I can,” Mahomes said, via Pro Football Talk. “To win seven Super Bowls and be in 10 Super Bowls, it’s crazy to even think about, even for me today. The other stats kinda come with it. I knew at Texas Tech, I put up a lot of stats but didn’t win games. When I got to the NFL, I knew I wanted to be a winner [first]. Try to win Super Bowls and give my team the best that I can.”

Mahomes turns 28 next month, and Brady won his last Super Bowl at age 43. The Chiefs star remains under contract to Kansas City through the 2031 season, and it’s certainly possible he could play as long as Brady did.
