Vikings Not Expected to Trade Kirk Cousins Ahead of Deadline Despite Rumors, per Report

Amid widespread speculation regarding his future in Minnesota, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins will apparently be staying put.

Cousins is not expected to waive the no-trade clause in his contract this season, according to a Saturday afternoon report from Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The 35-year-old Cousins has been the subject of considerable trade speculation as Minnesota has limped to a 1–4 start. The Vikings are three games behind the first-place Lions in the NFC North, and they placed wide receiver Justin Jefferson on the injured reserve on Wednesday.

The four-time Pro Bowl signal-caller is in the final year of a two-year, $66 million extension he signed on March 18, 2020.

Led by Cousins and Jefferson, Minnesota jumped out to a 10–2 start in 2022 before finishing 13–4 and losing at home to the Giants in an NFC wild card game.

This year, the Michigan State product has thrown a league-leading 13 touchdowns against four interceptions.

The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 31 this season.
